5 Must Try Wineries in Geneva-On-The-Lake, Ohio

Ohio’s wine country is home to some incredible wineries, each offering its own unique experience and charm. From stunning vineyard views to creative wine pairings and fun atmospheres, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. In this post, we’ll be talking about our 5 favorite wineries: Cask 307, Debonné Vineyards, South River Vineyards, Rosabella’s Winery, and Old Firehouse Winery. Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or just looking for a fun day out, these wineries offer a perfect blend of great wine, welcoming vibes, and memorable settings. Let’s dive in and explore what makes each of them a must-visit in Ohio's wine scene!

  1. Cask 307

Cask 307 was the first winery we visited in the area and I think it was a great introduction to Ohio’s wineries! If you’re into wine, or even if you just enjoy a great atmosphere and good food, this place is a must-visit! As you can see in the photos above, the location is beautiful! It’s surrounded by vineyards and has a modern rustic vibe which makes it the perfect spot to hang out with friends or for a nice date night.

They offer multiple different wine flights so there’s one for everyone to try (we went with a sweet flight and found a wine we loved and ended up going home with a bottle of it!) Overall, their selection is wonderful! They have a nice variety of whites, reds, and even blends! They even have a selection of non-alcoholic wine and beers. If you’re more into cocktails, don’t worry they have those too! We tried a Caramel Apple Sangria that was absolutely delicious.

Obviously, we like wine (or we wouldn’t be in wine country!), but we also need to talk about the food here. It’s just as good as their wine! They have a charcuterie board that paired perfectly with all the wine. If you aren’t in to cheese boards, they also offer focaccia, pretzels, flatbreads, etc!

Whether you want to sit inside and enjoy the cozy bar or relax on the patio with a view of the vineyards, this winery has a relaxing and welcoming vibe perfect for enjoying yourself! Cask 307 is such a gem in Ohio wine country and is worth a stop on your trip here.

2. Debonné Vineyards

We loved the scenery at Debonné’s! The vineyards stretch out around the property, where there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view (from picnic tables to cozy spots out on the lawn!). It’s a great place to relax with family and friends and enjoy the weather. The vibe was so great, we wanted to stay and hang out all day. And we probably could have! Not only are the grounds perfect for exploring, but they also have live music Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings! You can also learn more about the vineyard and wine making process by taking one of their guided tours (only available on Saturday). Tours are $25/person and include a guided tour, 4 wines to taste (1 ounce each), and cheese/cracker samples.

If you stop by Denonné Vineyards, you HAVE to try their fresh pressed grape juice. Days later, I’m still thinking about it! It’s so pure and refreshing. We bought a half gallon of it and drank it all weekend and honestly, grape juice will never be the same to me after trying it. Whether you’re a wine lover or not, this grape juice is a must try! It really gives you a taste of the vineyard in its freshest form.

Whether you're sipping wine or enjoying that amazing fresh-pressed grape juice, the beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere make it a perfect spot to unwind.

3. South River Vineyard

South River Vineyard is one of the most unique and beautiful wineries we’ve ever visited. The tasting room is inside a restored century old church, which gives the place such a cool and peaceful vibe. The stained-glass windows and wooden pews really add to the atmosphere— it’s not everyday you get to sip wine in a place like this!

As cool as the church vibes are in the tasting room, the outdoor seating is even better. The patio overlooks rows and rows of the vineyard and offers a great view of the countryside. It’s perfect on a nice day to sit outside and enjoy the wine, scenery, and friends! There’s so much space to spread out, it didn’t feel crowded even though it was busy the day we visited. Guests are even encouraged to bring their own food to have a picnic!

It wouldn’t be a winery without the wine, though! South River Vineyards offers a variety of whites and reds (and also had ice wines!). They had seasonal cocktails as well (we got the Spooky Sangria and it was delicious)! Whether you’re a wine newbie or an experienced taster, they make you feel right at home and help you find something you’ll love.

This was the most scenic winery we visited the whole weekend and we spent so much time here just taking in the views! Between the beautiful grounds, the unique setting, and excellent wine, we can’t wait until we have a chance to go back. If you happen to be in the area or are planning a trip to this region, make sure this spot is on your list!

4. Rosabella Winery

We went to Rosabella’s specifically to try their wine floats and cheesecake flights and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a unique and fun twist on wine tasting, this is the place to go!

Their wine floats are basically just wine and vanilla ice cream combined and it creates a super refreshing treat perfect for a warm day. We tried both the peach and raspberry flavors and they were both delicious (though raspberry was our favorite)! The combination of fruity sorbet with their chilled wines is honestly such a genius idea and, if you’re in the area, you have to stop and try one. I know I’m going to be back to get one!

If the wine float wasn’t enough to get you here, then I think the cheesecake flight might do the trick. They currently have their traditional flight and their fall flight. We tried the fall flight and it was the perfect little treat! The cheesecakes were creamy and rich and tasted like fall. It’s a fun way to mix up the typical cheese pairing people have with wine.

The vibe at Rosabella’s is super relaxed and welcoming. Their outdoor patio is dog friendly and surrounded by a garden as well as the vineyard. Overall, this place was totally worth the visit and we’ll definitely be back!

5. Old Firehouse Winery

Old Firehouse Winery is such a cool spot! It’s located right on the shores of Lake Erie, so the views are stunning (especially around sunset). You can sit on the patio, enjoy the lake breeze, and sip on wine. I don’t think it gets more relaxing than that!

The Old Firehouse Winery was actually the first firehouse in Geneva-on-the-lake (hence the name)! This gives it a fun, vintage vibe. They even have a historic fire truck on display, which adds a unique charm to the place. It's perfect whether you’re out with friends, on a date, or even just stopping by to drink. They offer a great variety, with something for everyone. Whether you like sweet, fruity wines or more classic reds and whites, you’ll find something you enjoy. We tried the sweet concord and ended up liking it so much we bought a bottle to take home!

They also have live music often with local bands, so you can sip your wine to the sounds of local musicians. It really adds to the fun and relaxed vibe of the place. If you’re in the area, you have to stop in for lunch, dinner, or even just a glass of wine!
