6 Must-Try Restaurants in Washington, D.C. for Every Food Lover

Typically, when I go to Washington, D.C., I do not spend a lot of time worrying about what to eat because I am so focused on the numerous amazing things to do in Washington, D.C. But, Washington, D.C. is more than just monuments and museums, its a food lovers dream too! D.C. has just about something for every palate. from fancy to hidden gems. In fact, the city boasts over 2,300 restuarants, so you should never be short a good plate of food! Whether you are craving global cuisine or classic comfort food, this list will walk you through the best restaurants I ate at while visiting Washington, D.C. Let’s dive into some unforgettable meals!

  1. Easy Company

Easy company is a wine bar, but they also offer a variety of food options as well, including brunch. They are located on the Wharf, so you can get a nice view of the water while you drink your wine or eat! I really enjoyed Easy Company! I went there for brunch and could not recommend it enough. It is cute, and the food was fresh! I ordered the Caesar Salad, Fried Calamari, and Eggs Benedict. I think about this brunch often. The vibes were great, the food was delicious, and the breeze off of the water made everything better! I could not recommend Easy Company enough. If you’re in the Wharf area, you have to stop in

II. The Residents

Once again, I could not recommend this restraurant enough! The Residents is located near Dupont Circle, so it isn’t too far from things to do in Washington, D.C. and pretty easy to get to! I was in Washington, D.C. with my boyfriend right after graduating law school and we went here as a “date night” and to celebrate my graduation. They gave us each a glass of free champagne since we were celebrating, which was very kind (it was also good champagne)! We also ordered the burrata appetizer, gnocchi, and octopus. The gnocchi and burrata were absolutely delicious! But, I am not a fan of octopus, so I did not eat that, but my boyfriend really liked it! I also tried two other drinks - The Bee and a French 75 - while we were here and loved them both! This place was super cute and a great place for a low key dinner! They had both an outdoor and indoor place to eat. The inside place had lower lights and decent music playing. So, the vibes were chill and nice!

III. Tiki TNT

Tiki TNT is also located at the Wharf. This place has a tiki bar vibe and decorations and was a great place to stop in for a snack and a drink or two. It is on the second level of the building so you can look out on the water while you sip on your drinks! The drinks were cold and tasted great! I had a Mai Tai and tried the Daiquri and Frozen Rum and Coke. They were all very good and tasted wonderful! If you’re on the Wharf and need a spot to stop for a drink or two, make your way to Tiki TNT!

IV. Little Chicken

I was not originally planning on eating at Little Chicken while in Washington, D.C. because I was planning on being so busy looking at monuments and museums, and I did not think I was going to have time. But, I ended up having some time before I went to the International Spy Museum and the Wharf is not htat far from where the International Spy Museum is located. So, I decided to stop in at Little Chicken for lunch! I was not disappointed with my choice. The inside is adorable and the food was so good!! The chicken was crispy and the buns were buttery! Little Chicken also offers drinks from their bar, but I did not try any (just a coke!) because I was going to the museum and had a bunch of walking left to do that day! But, if they drinks are as good as the chicken, then its worth it to try them!

V. Union Market

Union Market is kind of like a food hall. There are a bunch of different food stalls to choose from. They all look like they would be good, but I had a smoothie bowl (it was hot and I needed something cold!) and gumbo! I really like food markets and try to visit them in every city I go to that has one. They are nice becasue there are so many food options in one place, so if you have multiple people with you and cannot agree on the kind of food to eat, there is something for everyone! Union Market had a great vibe and a cute little outside area where you could eat your food if the weather is nice!

VI. Eastern Market

Eastern Market is a little market and offered food, flowers, and some groceries, etc. It was in an old stone building and was super cute! I had a sandwich from the deli that was inside. And, it was perfect for a summer day! If you’re in the area, take the time to visit the Eastern Market!
